- Many masculine words ending in -o change to -i: → gatti, → cavalli.
- Many feminine words ending in -a change to -e: rana → rane, tartaruga → tartarughe.
Examples:

For “mouse,” use topo. For “mouth,” use bocca.
Pollo and gallina depend on context
