Seven focused books
Each book in this library covers one topic in 11 to 13 pages. They work as quick references: open one before a lesson, a trip or a conversation, review a section and put it into practice.
Where to start
Beginners should start with the Spanish Numbers Book and the Spanish Pronouns Book. With numbers and pronouns you can introduce yourself, give your age and phone number, and talk about other people.
Next, build your vocabulary with the Most Common Spanish Words Book and the Spanish Verbs Book. Together they cover the words you will hear most often.
Intermediate learners can move on to the Spanish Everyday Phrases Book, the Spanish Connectors Book and the Spanish Prepositions Book. They help you link ideas and sound more natural.
Tips for English speakers
- Learn nouns with their gender. El libro and la mesa behave differently, so write the article with every new noun.
- Watch out for ser and estar. Both mean "to be", so note which one each example uses as you read.
- Practice the vowels. Spanish has five pure vowel sounds. Reading the example sentences aloud helps you avoid English vowel habits.
- Use connectors early. Words like pero, porque and entonces make your answers longer and clearer.
